THE BLACK RACE
Blacks oh blacks
What a race to behold
Their right to life is a fight which they must withhold
Their radient beauty is nature at its work but the eyes of the white can never see the light inside
Their fright to fight is coming to its height
But the yawn for respect keeps them in check
The journey to become someone is clearly inevitable
But life outside the black world throws a heavy stone at their faces
As life goes on
They say there is hope
A world of equality is what they seek
Blacks oh blacks
Indeed a race to behold
A day shall come where justice is in its best form

This is beautiful. I am a fan of free verses but this really throws a question at us: are we really going to continue copying the whites in our quest to be ‘civilized’. We can be civilized in our own ways instead of copying everything they do and say. No offence to the non-blacks who see this blog

The poem is really beautiful .it just summarizes everything that’s going on with racial prejudice. I love it .
